What this tracks
This dataset maps the four official forestry district boundaries in Tennessee and their forest coverage statistics.
Why it matters to you
If you’re a landowner or timber business in Tennessee, knowing your forestry district determines which local TDF office handles your burn permits, wildfire assistance, and forest management programs. A farmer in West Tennessee would contact different forestry staff than a sawmill owner in East Tennessee for the same services. The forest coverage percentages also show which regions have more viable timber resources.
How to read this data
District — The forestry region name, like “West Tennessee” or “Highland Rim”.
Forested_Acres — Total wooded land in the district (e.g., 3,768,634 acres in West Tennessee).
PercentForested — Percentage of land covered by forest (sample data shows ~58% for West Tennessee).
